If ever Draco did end up with Hermione in canon, will we be now shipping Ron and Hermione? Hmm…
Oh Jesus. Now I’m wondering the same thing, but with Harry in place of Draco.
Seven months ago I saw Puss in Boots, and guess what trailer they showed?TheLorax. I instantly fell in love with it. I was struck by lighting. I went home and ranted about how great it’ll be, and totally forgot I had just seen Puss in Boots. I immediately made the first Lorax fanclub on deviantart. I update Lorax Movie News website everyday, and began drawing the Once-ler. I joined tumblr two weeks before the movie came out. Then I saw it with my family, and I was the only one who liked it. I discovered Once-ler art on tumblr, and then I realized that I wasn’t alone. A fandom was growing. I video chatted with internet friends for the first time ever. I cosplayed the Once-ler or the movie theater and my last anime convention. I learned how to knit. I started crying over fan fictions. I made pancakes every week. I started eating marshmallows. I downloaded the movie theater filmed copy, and now, I’ve seen it eight times. I’ve been annoying my real life friends for weeks, and have made a universe load of new friends here. I jumped from 2 followers to 700 followers in just two months. My road has been really fun, successful, and something I won’t forget.
How has your Lorax journey been? I’d love to hear everyone’s stories.
I never read the Lorax when I was a kid. Unfortunately, I was never all that Dr. Suess savvy. I only knew the big name books like The Grinch and The Cat In The Hat. To be fair, though, The Cat In The Hat was one of my favorite books back then.
I first saw the 1972 movie in High School, when my Science class watched it. I didn’t think much of it then, aside from the obvious notion of how dark it is compared to some of Dr. Suess’s other stuff.
Then I heard about the movie coming out and didn’t really think much of it. I’ve never been huge into environmental stuff, see. It’s not that I don’t care, it’s just that my interests lay elsewhere. I wasn’t going to see it, but then one day I was browsing my dashboard, and someone had posted a gif set from the movie. So I take a look at it, and I see this really tall guy with black hair talking to the Lorax and looking all annoyed with him, and I thought to myself, “Wow, this guy is pretty hot. Is he the one Zac Efron is playing…? I wonder what the Once-ler looks like.”
So then, my curiousity piqued, I did a google search and found, to my surprise, that tall hot guy WAS the Once-ler. And that he wasn’t Zac Efron’s character, but rather some guy named Ed Helms whom I’d never heard of (never watched The Office or The Hangover, sue me).
From there, I started listening to the songs and looking up artwork on dA and raiding the Once-ler and sexybeanpole tags (the latter of which I’ve been tracking ever since), found a bunch of blogs to follow, got a few followers of my own, and just in general immersed myself in this awesome new fandom. Since I haven’t been to the movies in a long time, I had to settle for livestreams in order to watch it. I personally really like the movie, but then I like almost everything. I have no standards at all. XD
Then one day, while on deviantART, I came across a rather interesting piece of fanart that depicted Once-ler kissing Audrey. I saw that and I’m like, ‘What the hell?! …actually, I think I like this.’ And that’s how I got started shipping Audler (Once-ler/Audrey). I wrote my first fanfic a few weeks later, got some very positive feedback, wrote another one, got positive feedback AND fanart (which I still grin like an idiot over every time I see it), and now I’m planning a full chapter fic and doing a 100 themes challenge.
Hopefully, I can stick with this fandom for a long time because I just love you guys all so much, even when I don’t. :D
